Know What Follows When the Second Month Begins
The first month is over and your baby is about to begin his/her second month. How different should a 2 month old baby be from a 1 month old baby? There will no doubt be plenty of changes. A 1 month old infant is often unresponsive. However, a 2 month old baby becomes a little alert and active. Besides, you as a parent would have also grown in the last 2 months and will be feeling more confident about recognizing your baby’s needs. Settling into a predictable routine by now would be certain.
A 2 month old baby wants more stimulation than the simple contrast of black and white objects. Perhaps this is where you would want to look out for more detailed and complicated designs and allow the baby to reach out and touch them.
An infant just 2 months old is usually sleeping throughout the night. Even if she does not happen to, there is no cause for worry. Most babies need to be fed during nights. The sleeping stretches by now are longer and when he/she is awake, the gap in between might equally be longer.
And be ready for the Eureka moment, your baby’s first smile!
Your infant aged 2 months will start responding to bells. He/she will also hold her head up for short periods, begin to follow objects and also begin vocalizing in other ways such as cooing, humming and gurgling besides crying.
Also, your baby will begin grinning in response to yours, be able to hold up her/his head at a 45 degree angle when on the stomach and ensure smoother and a little more controlled movements. He/she by now would have begun grabbing objects voluntarily.
And there are a few other possibilities as well. Your baby begins to smile spontaneously. He/she is able to laugh out loud and also squeal in jubilation. The reflexes are a tad better by now, which means he/she will be able to bring both hands together. She will be able to lift her head to 90 degrees while on her stomach and will also be able to bear her weight on her legs if supported.
